Record from Alesis drum machine into Logic X

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have an Alesis SR-16 drum machine and an io2 USB interface. I have them connected via large jack cables and USB into the back of my iMac. I'm expecting and hoping to be able to recored drum tracks in Logic but cannot see any input levels even though the io2 is detected. I'm not seeing any levels from the drum machine on the io2 either. I think I have it all connect correctly (output to input, etc) but it's not looking good.

Can anyone help? Perhaps I'm doing something wrong or maybe it's not possible. Perhaps I should just set up a mic and record the drum machine from the speakers. Many thanks, Alex

The io2 USB interface website indicate that it is compatible with Mac: OS X 10.6, 10.7, 10.8. (and Windows 7 and 8). Those are quite old operating systems... I wonder if it can still work on newer machine. The Alesis website doesn't specify it requires drivers installation for the io2?

Are you using a MIDI interface for the SR 16?

I'm not no. For the time being I'll record from the speakers although there must be a way to do this

Yes, either with microphones, or via a soundcard (audio interface).
