How to sound ‘sampled’?

I am into making hiphop beats and the melodies are made with software instruments.

How to make these layered Melodies I made sound ‘sampled’?

I use quick sampler to record my Melodie’s and chop it up in slices which works okay but I like to know more ways to make my music sound ‘sampled’. Hope you guys can help me; knowing this forum I am sure of it.

Thanks

eq, ie make it a little boomy, hissy. add sampled turntable noise &mix it in with the loop, a great effect. make it mono. take some midrange out, or deep low end out.

add a little reverb, bounce-in-place, then cut it up a little so some of the reverb tails are truncated; makes it sound like what it is: a recording cut up a bit.

and mostly... experiment. and am sure others here will have ideas.

i had a song out several years ago, with a sampled loop of one of my old demos. an engineer winked at me, said he knew where i got the loop from 🤣

and distortion! never underestimate what a little bit of distortion/overdrive can do ;)
