r2d2
Hi - this has probably already been discussed elsewhere (in which case please kindly direct me to the other thread!). As far as I can tell, Logic applies it's own limiter to automatically avoid clipping during playback. So, even though the track meter might indicate clipping with a red light and a positive value, the actual audio you hear during playback in Logic is NOT what you would hear if the track was bounced - correct? Two questions: 1. Is there a way to turn off this automatic limiter so that what I hear in Logic is what my bounced track will actually sound like? 2. If I like the sound/character of this limiter in Logic, how do I replicate it for my bounced track? Thanks
Atlas007
I don’t think it’s possible. This has to do with how Logic computes the audio signal internally (which isn’t an internal Limiter). However, at its output, it is recommended to stay below 0dBFS.

Turn the output fader down so you are no longer clipping, then there will be no limiting applied. You shouldn't be clipping the main outputs anyway, it's kind of one of the fundamental "don't go over 0dBFS" points in Logic. On 7/17/2022 at 7:25 PM, r2d2 said: 2. It's probably not something to be relied upon, but you could record the output of Logic's playback in realtime, using eg Audio Hijack. But really, you're far better off using good gain stage practices, and using a pro limiter you can fully control and see what it's doing, imo.
