Ceeteefl
Hello! When I quantize midi, it quantizes all tracks to same parameter. For example, if I have a kick and snare. Both on separate tracks. If I quantize the snare to 95 the kick also automatically goes to 95. Does anyone know how to fix this? I’d like to quantize my tracks differently at times. thanks I’m advance for any help! Atlas007
What do you mean quantize at 95? Could you post a screen capture describing what you mean? BTW, which Logic (precise) version are you using?
JakobP
Is it the song BPM you're changing ? The BPM is project global, i.e. it effects all tracks. Quantizing is done in one of the midi editors, or the region inspector... Edited July 26, 2022 by JakobP
Ceeteefl
Not the BPM. For example. Say I have 3 tracks that all have midi regions. One is hi hats, one is kick and one is snare. I want to quantize the hats to 1/16 note 85% and I want to quantize the kick 1/8note 92%. Logic won’t let me do both. If changes all regions to whatever quantize setting I last selected. So in this case, everything would be at 1/8th note 92%. Does that make sense? I can send screen shots shortly
Ceeteefl
Not the BPM. Using logic 10.7.2 For example. Say I have 3 tracks that all have midi regions. des99
You have "All regions selected (7)", which is why your edits are applying to all regions. Only select the region you want to edit, and your edits will only affect that selected region.
Ceeteefl
I understand that. I’m saying it changes my other tracks regions. Like if Im quantizing the kick it will also change the quantize in my snare that is on another track and those regions are not selected
des99
Upgrade to Logic 10.7.4 via your AppStore. Does it still happen? Does this only happen in this one project, or does it always happen? Eg: - Start a new fresh project, create two independent tracks and record some data into regions. Select one and quantise it, either using the region parameters or the piano roll quantizing method. Does it reproducibly affect the non-selected region as well? Edited July 26, 2022 by des99
Ceeteefl
Yes it happens in every project. Let me upgrade and see if that changes anything
des99
Worth trying, because there was a bug fixed with those interface elements that could cause unpredictable behaviour by also interacting with other elements...
JakobP
At last here on 10.5.1, those values don't update to show what the notes are quantized to, they simply have the last entered values still displayed. So your regions are quantized individually, it's just the displayed values that don't reflect what you did quantize the notes to... Hope this makes sense... JakobP
Try this; create a region in your project, quantize the notes to 1/1, then press play. Do all notes in all regions play only on the first beat in the bar ? Edited July 26, 2022 by JakobP
Ceeteefl
Hi Jacob, just tried that and yes they do all play on beat 1.
JakobP
Wow, that's really weird... Then I guess des99s post about this being a bug is correct... Edited July 26, 2022 by JakobP
Ceeteefl
Yeah it’s very weird. I have 10.7.2 in trying to get 10.7.4 but I’m not seeing an option to update to that in the App Store. It just says “open” on Logic Pro
Ceeteefl
And it doesn’t show up in my “updates” section of App Store

Ceeteefl
I went account, purchased and it’s there but only gives me option to open. I’ll try resetting
Ceeteefl
I currently have macOS BUG SUR 11.4 and I can update to Mac OS Monterey 12.5 (that’s why I can’t get the latest logic update) im always weary of updates. Do you guys think I’ll be ok updating?
des99
10.7.4 requires Big Sur 11.5 or later. So it looks like there are some maintenance updates to Big Sur you can do, without having to upgrade completely to Monterey, and that procedure should be safe (though you should of course have system backups and be able to revert if necessary).
JakobP
It's enough to update to Big Sur 11.5 according to Apple... https://www.apple.com/logic-pro/specs/ Oops, too late... Edited July 26, 2022 by JakobP
Ceeteefl
So I got everything updated and did some testing. I made 4 midi tracks. Quantize them all differently and it did work. However, it still shows whatever the last setting was on all my midi tracks which is a little annoying. But at least it’s working!

It can't show you the quantise setting on all notes, because each note could have a different quantize setting, and you can select multiple notes. All the slider is saying is "Apply *this* level of quantize when I next quantize something...", it's not a current selection/note quantize display.
