Beebeesmith
I successfully lengthened the note of a cymbal, click on the note and it’s fine, but when press play to listen to the cymbal within the drum stem then the note is cut short, sounds like a high hat closing. Researched for answers and tried everything I can think of but can’t find an answer Nb, I’m very old so not brought up with this technology but I keep trying Nb, tried the pencil tool but that didn’t help, the photo shows the cymbal note and my failed attempt to alter the note, it does lengthen it but still just a short cut off note when played Any ideas anyone, please Thanks
Atlas007
According to you photo, it seems that there are two superposed A2 (crash right) note events; their corresponding velocity bars (the dotted small horizontal lines in the MIDI automation below) reveals same. To correct same, try the following: open the Event list editor, and via the currently Piano Roll (as in your photo) select those notes using the mouse pointer tool (not the pencil one). That should automatically highlight the same note(s) in the Event List editor. In that Event List editor, check nearby (A2) notes, you would normally see that you have two (or more) of those A2 with the same position (first value on the left), select the shortest one(s) (the one with the smallest value on the far right), make sure that only that shortest A2 note is selected/highlighted then hit the Delete key on your computer keyboard. Let us know how it goes…
Solution Beebeesmith Posted August 9, 2022 Author Solution Share Posted August 9, 2022 Hi Atlas 007 i am so embarrassed, I had applied automation at some point but wasn’t seeing it on the screen in the Piano Roll. It was the automation that chopped the cymbal note off. 😱 This is the trouble with being old, you forget or overlook the obvious. Thank you very much for your time in replying Gordon.
