10.7.5

New Features:

  • The Playhead returns to the last place you recorded. Further, after pressing the spacebar to stop a recording, press r to record again, and the recording will start at the same place each time you press r.

  • Editing regions is simpler. When splitting or cutting a region via the Scissors tool, Logic Pro X will remember the original data in the region, so you can move regions anywhere in a track and drag regions outward to reveal all data that may be present. Logic Pro X will also save any recordings sent to the Take Folder pop-up menu, so you can still use the Take Folder recordings if you move a region.

  • Track placement in the Mix window. To move tracks in the Mix window, click and drag a track left or right.

  • Smart Automation mode. When you mix a track, Logic Pro X uses AI to determine where you want the overall meter level to be, while preserving detailed automation edits. Turn this feature on or off in Logic Pro’s Automation Preferences.

  • Automatic and reversible trimming. Metering for mixing is easier. Logic Pro X analyzes each track and determines how many dB or decibels to cut from each track. With this trimming feature, Logic Pro X preserves 10 undo and redo steps, and has an Original Trim button with an AI Trim button to compare the differences in leveling. Use this feature to save time when mixing.

  • Improved Grid base and Grid Sensitivity level. Moving regions is smoother, and regions lock into the grid based on personal preference. Similar to adjusting the amount of Swing when quantizing MIDI, you can adjust their experience of moving or dragging regions.

  • Project preferences can be universal among all projects. For example, if you select Snap Regions to Absolute Value in one project, this preference will show across all of your projects. To use this feature, make an edit, then press Command + Shift + S to save the preference. Edit Universal Preferences under General Preferences.

  • Added Mixing and Mastering presets inspired by Bob Katz, Manny Mannequin, Bernie Grundman, Steve Hoffman, and many others.

Removed features:

  • Editing regions now uses Non-Destructive Editing rather than Destructive Editing.

Bug Fixes:

  • Plug-ins removed from the Plug-in Manager stay removed. You previously couldn’t remove plug-ins, which caused a dialog box to appear every time you opened Logic Pro X.
