Compressing Packages before Sharing them

It is recommended as over the internet, sharing a .zip package is a more reliable and robust method than directly sharing the project folder or project package.

When sharing over the internet you are uploading your files to a server without knowing its file system and that file system may not respect the macOS file system structure of your folders and documents.

What I've experienced is that without zipping the file(s), sometimes a Logic package can be broken into a folder and its contents, rendering it unusable for the recipient (without further manipulation such as changing the extension of the container folder).

Here's an example of this happening:

Thank you, that is so so helpful! (I have already sent them without compressing so just for peace of mind until I am able to get chance to zip the files at home later - if they were broken into a folder and contents is it technically possible to manipulate it back to make it useable?

Also, should I do the same for my own backups on iCloud?

You can try to rename the container folder to give it the .logicx extension which should repair the package.

No, iCloud is designed with Mac users in mind so there's no need to do that when using iCloud.

Right, understood. Thank you, that's saved lot of confusion and worrying!
