drfill
Hi! I just realized, while saving a plug in setting from a Waves plugin, that there wasn't any folder in User>Music>Audio Music Apps>Plug-in settings for this plug-in, and they are missing for many of my third party plugins, so I have to go there and create a folder to be able to save the setting in the correct folder. Is there a setting to make this happen automatically? I don't remember this was an issue on my old computer. Running Logic 10.7.
Solution des99 Posted October 4, 2022 Solution Share Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) That's not where third-party plugin settings go, that's where user *Logic* plugin settings (pst files) go, generally. For third-party plugins (aupreset files), its: ~/Library/Audio/Presets/ (That's the library folder in your user/home folder.) Logic will look in a bunch of locations, so you *can* save stuff in various places, but I recommend sticking to this, generally. drfill
Ah, thanks! But is there any way to make logic create a folder and route them to the folder automatically? Or do I have to create a folder in ~/Library/Audio/Presets/ for third party plugins?
des99
Usually the plugin installer creates those when you install it, or run it for the first time, I believe (or it's possible Logic does when you load the plugin for the first time, I'm not exactly sure who creates them - would be good to test that and find out for sure*...). I don't think I've ever had to manually create all my third-party preset folders... but if you are missing some, you can manually create them. Edit: It's the plugin itself that does it. I had just installed a plugin, but hadn't run it, so I opened a little plugin host (not Logic), and loaded the plugin for the first time, and watched the plugin create it's own folder in the audio preset folders... Steve Sacks
I'm running Logic 10.7.9, and am unable to save any presets on the Logic plugins. Third-party plugins are no problem. The personal presets I created on my old Mac are in the folder User>Music>Audio Music Apps>Plug-in settings, but I can't find the .pst files for the original Logic presets. In either case, Logic tells me I "don't have permission" to save any presets on Logic plugins, and that I should find the .pst file in Finder, and check access to the file. I have "read and write permission" on all the .pst files I've checked, but I still can't overwrite them. I'm completely stumped; any advice? Not save your own user setting?
Steve Sacks
Hi David, thanks for the quick reply! I was trying to "save a copy as" my new Vintage Console EQ preset. I found the folder where you told me it would be, and the folder was empty. Furthermore, the factory Logic presets don't appear in the preset list, and can't be loaded. (screenshot 1) As a test, I opened Space Designer in a Logic track, because I did find some presets in the appropriate folder Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Space Designer. In this plugin, the factory presets load just fine, but when I try to "save a copy as" (with a different filename) I'm not allowed to do so. My personal presets for VIntage Console EQ are all in MacHD/Username/Music/Audio Music Apps/Plug-in Settings/Vintage Console EQ. (screenshot 2) They will load in the plugin in Logic; however, if I try to save a modified version with "save a copy as" Logic tells me I don't have permission to do so, despite the fact that "Get Info" on the .pst clearly tells me I ("Steve") have read/write permission. (screenshot 3) Were the factory Logic presets not downloaded or installed properly? Anything I can do about this short of re-downloading Logic? Thanks in advance for whatever you could do!
