Logic Pro 10.7.5 is out!

Lots of great updates to Logic here!

One thing I noticed is that they didn't fix the AirPods Pro issue (at least not for me).
I discovered it when I forgot my main headphones while on tour and had to rely on AirPods.
When Logic uses them as an input/output device, the sound quality gets reduced to low-quality 16 kHz audio.
I was listening to my mix at the time and was shocked how it sounded like garbage. Then I listened to something in Apple Music for reference, and the track also sounded terrible. I then closed Logic and the sound reverted back to normal.
The only way I found to fix it was turning off the Input Source as the "AirPods Pro" and choosing anything else. But even that only worked sometimes. Sometimes doing this resulted in having no audio playing.

I thought perhaps it was just me, or my AirPods were malfunctioning, but I found a lot of people complaining of the same thing online.

So, it's not a big deal they didn't fix this, I don't use my AirPods for mixing or anything. (Now, I just check a bounced track on my AirPods outside of Logic for reference.) Just a random thing I wanted to see if they somehow fixed.

Anyways, the positive additions and fixes in this update more than make up for this small detail. 😁

I would like to know if the new update is compatible with Big Sur 11.6 ?

Edit: I believe the update requires macOS 11.5 or later. So it should be compatible with your version of Big Sur. I was wrong. As @des99 pointed out below, you need Monterey 12.3 or later.

Just in case, I'd still back up your current version of Logic Pro before doing any updates!

Ah still no APC40 clips launch integration. I still must bounce Logic audio to use it in Bitwig for my techno live acts !

It a shame the GUI of the older Logic native plugins are still not been updated.

On my 5k screen some GUI are blurry especially parameters names.

If this plugins sizes are enlarged above 100 %, this is even worse.

Also if you assign a key command to "Tool Menu > Gain Tool" then you can use the Tool Menu's momentary tool switching feature:

  1. Press T to open the tool menu,
  2. Press and hold down your Gain Tool key command,
  3. Use the Gain Tool,
  4. Release the Gain Tool key command.

FWIW: In the default install in one of my users here, the Gain tool got the "G", while the Glue tool was reassigned to "J".

Nor for me. Only if I do it in the mixer.

i would think this should not work in the arrange window. for example, since you can't see what's in the fx slots, you might put a limiter in slot 3, overwriting a reverb plugin on one track.

it's logical (pun intended) in the mixer, where you can see what's happening....

Not in front of it right now, but this could be as simple as a Key Command changing name convention or similar.

Do a quick search in the Key Command editor to see if it's changed. I have seen this happen previously.

Cheers,

Matt

No, I did check that, but the key commands are the same.

Has anyone figured out if there's a way to record MIDI FX without having to play the notes in? It would be great if I could place a pre-recorded MIDI region on the track with an Arp MIDI FX plugin on it, hit Record and the arp'ed notes would be recorded directly onto the track. Anyone?

It doesn't look like that is possible.  Best non-free solution for that is MidiFxFreeze plugin.  For Free you can use IAC to loop it around and record it to another track.  But its possible maybe someone will figure out a way to do as you are hoping, but it doesn't look like it does.

That's a bummer. I've been using the MIDIFX Freeze plugin since it was first released (the free version). Was hoping for a native way to do this. Oh well.

(Didn't want to create a new thread, since this seems to be related to this new update.)
Anyone else having the issue of the first instance of any plugin you load in appearing as a small window before the plugin fully loads?

I see this for a few seconds for every new plugin loaded

At first, I thought it was due to some plugins running on Rosetta, but this ShaperBox3 is M1 compatible and recently downloaded.

It's a very small nuisance, but it seems like some kind of glitch. Or, at least, that's not how plugins used to load up for me before. Wondering if there's something I should check into?
Many thanks!

That's usually normal behaviour these days I think, as the plugin is loaded in a separate process, which expands to fill the box once it's GUI initialises. Some plugins might take a bit of time to initialise, so you might see the placeholder small window for longer in those cases...
