Mark Dwyer
2021 MacBook Pro. Ventura 13.0.1. Fresh download of Logic 10.7.5 and Logic's Sound Library. For the life of me can't figure out how to install (if that's even the right term) my Vienna Symphony Library Horizon Opus 1 & 2 library from a trillion years ago that's been working through all the intervening years and versions of Logic. It used to go in a Sampler Instruments folder. Now where does it go? Audio Music Apps? Application Support? Utterly bewildered and will be eternally grateful for any help. des99
For user content (ie, not Logic factory content), use: ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Sampler Instruments/ Edited November 20, 2022 by des99
Mark Dwyer
Thanks! I've moved them there, but Sampler doesn't see them, even after a restart and a refresh in Logic. Edited November 20, 2022 by Mark Dwyer Typo
des99
They are actual sampler instruments for Logic? (*.exs files)
Mark Dwyer
I guess they are not. And I'm probably not understanding the difference. I see .wav files.
des99
Those are samples, not sampler instruments, so they shouldn't be in the Sampler Instruments folder, unless they have associated EXS files - instrument files are the files that contain the mappings and sample references that load into the EXS24/Sampler (which then loads the samples that are referenced in the EXS files). The samples can generally go anywhere, it's only the Sampler Instruments that need to be in those specific folders that EXS24/Sampler looks in to make them available from it's menus for loading and playing. If you originally used these in the EXS24, there must be associated EXS files for them, and it's those you'l need to find and put in the Sampler Instruments folder. Mark Dwyer
Ok. I'll work backwards and find the .exs files. This is all working in my other/older computer, so they have to be in there somewhere. Thanks a lot, this is very helpful.
Solution des99 Posted November 20, 2022 Solution Share Posted November 20, 2022 (edited) If you are using an older version of Logic (ie pre Logic 10), you probably want to check:- ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/ for those, which is the location used for earlier versions of Logic (that's the Library folder in your user home folder - the one at the root of your drive contains the factory Logic content).
