MIDI NOTES: is there a velocity 'y axis' , so I can visually see which notes are louder?

Hello guys,

In Logic, is there a way to SEE midi notes velocity, like in a 'y Axis'?
I'm attaching Ableton Live's interface (image attached 'Velocity-Ableton.jpeg') to depict what I mean.
It's so much easier to just push up and down the velocities using pencil tool.

I'm exploring the possibilities on this matter on Logic right now. So far, I just got into this screen (see image attached 'Velocity-2-Logic').
Tried a bit of tweaking on this, using pencil, velocity tool, but didn't get quite a good result.

Any hints on this topic will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Paulo

Don't have Logic open right now to make sure I get the details exactly right, but you should be able to select velocity from the automation menu (where it says 'Ch 1: MIDI Volume' in your screenshot). There are other ways, like using the step editor, but they might be less straightforward. Also, a very convenient way to edit note velocities is to switch temporarily to the velocity tool using control-command and drag notes or note selections vertically.

You're displaying MIDI Volume (CC #7) in you screenshot. You want to choose Note Velocity if you want to edit the velocity of notes:-

As Atlas said, there are also other windows and ways of showing and editing notes in Logic.

I don't think it is: if you have several notes at the same time it becomes quite difficult to hit the right one (without selecting it first).

I always use command-click-and-drag on the note itself to change its velocity (in Ableton; you can do the same in Logic); the "candlesticks" however give a good indication of the relative values.
