Logic pro occasionally develops a lag on audio input after sitting idle for a few minutes (NOT a latency issue)

I am using Logic Pro with an M1 Max 14 inch MacBook Pro 64 Gb ram.  If it sits idle for a few minutes sometimes a lag (not latency) of as much as a second will be develop with audio track (guitar) input.  It will correct itself immediately if I play back a track.  As if it's lost a sync.  Again this is not latency since the audio input will be right on once the lag is "cleared" by playback.

Make sure that:

  1. You prevent your Mac from automatically sleeping,
  2. You never let your hard disks go to sleep.

But even then yes, I've experienced the same as you, I believe the core audio driver does not like going to sleep or staying idle for too long, so whenever I will be away from the Mac for a while I'll quit Logic - and if I forget, I've accepted that I'll have to restart when I return to the Mac.

This happens even when the laptop has not gone to sleep.  I use other apps  while using Logic and will still see this delay in response to an audio input creep in.  I would have though the M1 processor would have been immune. The actual latency when this lag is not taking over, is extremely low.
