bebenavole
Newbie question but somehow this came to my attention now. After all these years hahaha. During this project 😄 I am bouncing master stem tracks for further mixing for a new album and I noticed that some tracks once imported into a blank project for mixing are showing up as stereo and some as a mono channel. I am not using any stereo reverbs or anything. Maybe some light compression on individual tracks. Why is this happening? Also I noticed that the tracks that where recorded live as in vox and instrument are in some cases out of phase. They are coming up as 2 stereo channels once imported into a new project.  Thank you Best Adam
bebenavole
IN the original project they were all recorded as mono. Just realised I forgot to mention that
des99
It depends on exactly how you are bouncing/exporting. If you're bouncing from the main mix output, you've bouncing in stereo all the time. Other bounce/exporting methods have a bunch of settings to dictate how you want to bounce. Let us know how you bounced the tracks you're having problems with, and we might be able to say what you're doing wrong with the settings. bebenavole
I solo the track I need to bounce and then well...bounce it 😄 When I go thru the files they are all stereo. But, like I said some show up in mono or stereo in a mixing project. Honestly Ive been doing it like this ever since I got Logic. I didn't know there were...options 😄 What and where are the options ? 😄

Or do you bounce-in-place? or do you use one of the various track export options? Or do you record to a new track - there are *lots* of ways to "bounce" something in Logic. You should know how to bounce (File -> Bounce, or the bounce button on your stereo output channel strip), how to bounce-in-place tracks/regions, how to export (File -> Export), and how to re-record in Logic. All of these processes are different and have different settings, advantages and weaknesses. If you are just doing a regular bounce, then you're bouncing from your stereo output, hence the files you get will be stereo.
bebenavole
I bounce via stereo track so I have individual tracks for further mixing and mastering. I know about bounce in place. It happens within the same project.

bebenavole
yes if there is an option
David Nahmani
To bounce in mono, if the track has only mono plug-ins (or if the track has a mono input and doesn't have plug-ins), choose File > Bounce > Track in Place (and disable Volume/Pan Automation in the Bounce dialog). If you want to export mono tracks for further mixing then you can select the tracks you need (hold down Command and click only the tracks you need on their track header to select them) and choose File > Export > # Tracks as Audio Files (where # is the number of tracks selected). Here too, disable Volume/Pan Automation in the Bounce dialog or you'll end up with stereo files.

Soon as the pan is activated or a plugin added it immediately bounces the track stereo which makes total sense. thanks
David Nahmani
If the plug-in(s) is (are) mono, then that should yield a mono track.
