Comping with stereotracks

.. your experiences please! .. :)

usually i record my accoustic guitars in stereo. after doing that i create a group for these 2 channels so that every edit applies to both tracks. then i start working with these take-folders, using comping and quickswipe.

so, to you people who are familiar with this way of working: what do you say?

does comping work properly, or do you experience strange stuff and even crashes?

cheers to all,

The quick comping feature is awesome. And you can easily handle your stereo or even multitrack guitar takes using the track groups and in group options choose edit select. Now any comping you do will show up across all grouped tracks.

When it works this is a great new feature although in my experience it does seem quite buggy and seems to be the cause of 98% of my crashes since I got 8. I still use it though and am hoping 8.1 irons out a few of these bugs.

.. comping IS a superb feature, but in no way to trust. it does so many silly things over here, that it´s simply not usable. somehow i´m glad now that Logic 8 doesn´t offer more REALLY new features, ´cause i wouldn´t want to know how they´d behave .. :?

what it does here? it moves takes after reopening Logic, it even deletes takes!

(and more silly stuff.)

i hope they fix this, and i hope that we don´t have to wait for too long this time.

I have had whole performances that were so far out of sync for some reason, It was easer to just dump the whole thing and start again.

A wonderful tool, but they need to get it working before I risk a client on it.
