Play from Selection - new key command limitation

After updating to Logic 10.7.7 I can no longer assign my usual key command to "Play from Selection".

I've always used Ctrl+Spacebar, but it's simply not possible to assign this combination any longer. Nothing happens.

Any idea why? I suspect it's some kind of system wide thing (although I'm not sure why the system would prohibit this combo) or a new-ish bug in Logic.

I can assign Control-Spacebar to Play from Selection here, and it works. Do you see any conflict listed in Logic's Key Command window for that assignment? If you do, there should be more details about the conflict at the bottom of the Key Command window:

I can't get Control Spacebar to be assigned to Play from Selection either!

Only Shift Spacebar is accepted.

When I press Control Spacebar nothing appears in the Key area, and there are no conflicts for Control Spacebar. Control and any other key works as expected.

Do you get more details about a conflict in your Key Command window?

No. Nothing happens and Control Spacebar does not appear in the Key assignment area.

What if you go in your Apple Menu > System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts, select Input Sources from the column on the left, and uncheck "Select the previous input source"?

Aha! Very clever David. Yes it works now.

So do I need "Select the previous input source" checked in the finder normally?

Only if you frequently and quickly want to cycle through different keyboard layouts (for different languages, for example).

Cheers mate. Updated my studio computer to the new Mac mini M2 and did a fresh re-install of everything.

Such a positive experience. Hundreds of plug-ins, a dozen audio apps, everything just works with macOS Ventura.

Thanks Gacki, I wasn't sure what it was for. I do not need to use it at all.
