No longer possible to copy & insert between plug-ins (10.7.x)?

In Logic 10.5.x I can copy and insert a plug-in between two plug-ins simply by holding down the Option button and moving the plug-in in between two other plug-ins.

A green plus sign appears and there's a thin white line that shows where the plug-in will be inserted. It requires fairly careful aiming in order not to replace another plug-in (i..e. on top of an existing plug-in).

In Logic 10.7.x I can apparently do almost the same. The green plus sign and the thin line appear when moving the plug-in down in the order, but nothing happens if I let go, or try to do it up in the order. It simply slips back - nothing is copied and moved.

That's a pretty important feature, so I'm sure you can still do it, but something has changed or it's a bug. Any info would be appreciated!

The workaround is to first open a random plug-in in that spot and then copy the other plug-in on to that plug-in. Unnecessarily complicated when it's possible or was possible to do.

There's a white line, yes - but only when copying down in the order or copying more than one plug-in up. I.e. the white line won't appear when trying to copy right above the source plug-in.

In any case it doesn't work when actually trying to copy/let go, i.e. whether it's up or down in the order nothing happens - it just slips back as if nothing happened.

no white line appears immediately above the source plugin, you have to go to the next slot above...

Right but even then, when I release my click, the plug-in is not copied here (that's what I'm trying to do in my last screen capture). The plug-in slips right back to its original position, no copy is created.

Yes, what I meant was, the white line doesn't appear, so Logic doesn't even recognise a move/copy to here is valid - and thus won't let you (the plugin goes back to it's original position).

If the white line appeared, presumably the copy/move would work as expected.

I don't know how earlier versions behaved, but a *move* to a new slot immediately above the current plugin doesn't seem to make much sense, so perhaps it's disallowed for this reason, and they forgot about the copy bit (but you could just as well copy down to achieve the same thing anyway.)

Just to make sure we're on the same page: even with the white line and the green + sign appearing when copying a plug-in down, the plug-in is not copied.

Sorry I keep getting lost! 😄 - everyone was talking above about copying/moving up, which was what I was checking out...

Edit: Oh, I think I've found it when copying one slot down, I get a plus, but no plugin move happens - this is what you're talking about. It looks like you need to go at least to one slot up or down before that starts working.
