APPLEMAN
First of all... I really like Logic studio 8 but it has become corrupted and giving me error message " error trying to synchronize audio and midi" and some times even with a sample rate figure that is a little below or a little above what is selected. This is even on a brand new project with any audio at all at 44.1khz. I had a suggestion earlier to just reinstal over my old software but that did not work. I would like to completely manually uninstall all the way to the drivers and reinstall fresh. Can anyone tell me how to do this as i do not want to trash the wrong thing and also donot want to miss anything. Or I am still open to sugestions. I feel I have tried everything at this point. I also have Motu's Digital Performer 5.11 and it is running great at any sample up to 96khz so I know it is not my cables or hardware set up. I really would like to get this program up and running again as I have not had it very long. I am running a MacPro 3 ghz w/ 4 gig ram, and dual 896HDs Thanks guys ( and gals) I look forward to your reply
APPLEMAN
Ps. It was working great until I tried to increase the sample rate. Then I started to get the error message and stuttering audio. when I went back to the 44.1khz sample rate it would not work correctly anymore. humberto
welcome to the new logic. With more bugs then a tree in the forest, Do these problems happen in logic 7?
shadowbox
I have had this problem too. I don't know if a reinstall will fix anything. I have found that the problem is related to automation. If you open the project that you are having this problem with and erase all of the automation see if you still get the errors. Also you can get this error sometimes when running 48k audio files in a 44k session, or vice versa. (That includes running a Quicktime movie with audio). seclusion
Is this a new project or one that continued over from Logic 7? So far my system has been ok with the transition, but I'm not locking a whole bunch of stuff anymore. Sounds like maybe a clock rate on a piece of gear isn't switching over or is set to master instead of sync... Later
APPLEMAN
This is a new project. I never had Logic 7. It is happening wven with a new project without audio recorded. My equipment is running great with digital Performer so I know it is the Logic program software, and as I said it WAS running before I messed with the sample rate. APPLEMAN
I know this post is getting farther down the post list. Does anyone know how to uninstall Logic pro? I tried just reinstalling but it did not help my situation.

Try this url : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300659 or go to http://www.apple.com/support and search "Logic Pro 7: How to uninstall" or use the Article ID: 300659 <--- that if searched by the ID will return, belive it or not... nothing. involver
This might be the solution? http://community.sonikmatter.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28339&st=0&p=171884entry171884
involver
...Also make sure the 896 sofware and hardware is set to the same sample rate as logic. Finally - perhaps you could ask MOTU if they know what the problem is?
Muze
Hi Appleman, I had the same problem with a MOTU-product. I think Motu or TIger is the problem, not Logic. I have the Motu Symphonic Instrument and I had the same problem when I used the convolution effects on it. My audio was also stuttering and after that the synchronize-message. I think there's something wrong with the drivers of Motu in Tiger. I had no problems with my powermac G4 and Logic 6 with Panther. After that, I bought a Mac Pro 8-core and had the same problem in Logic 7.2.3 and Tiger !!! Now, I have install the Motu in Logic Studio and Leopard and I have no problems again with the same conditions of my audio and soundcard. Very, very strange ! Don't install Logic Studio again ! It will not help ! What OS do you use ?
involver
I agree. This sounds like a MOTU hardware, driver or clocking issue to me. Probably not Logic. Another random thought is that it could be a faulty firewire cable or a firewire drive attatched to the MOTU. Try to isolate the problem as much as possible by unplugging other devices. Les Beshears
Hi appleman It might not be logic 8. I don't have Logic 8 so this may not be the solution, but I was having the audio midi sync message a few months ago and I did a search of several forums including MOTUs and found that the error message occurs frequently with the HD 896s and 828 MKII. The solution MOTU offered is power down the MOTU, go into Audio Midi Set up and change the both the optical in and out to ADAT and reboot your MOTU. Sounds weird but it worked for me on Logic 7. Good Luck! Les
involver
Sounds to me like that is probably the solution! (see also my link above).

Good Luck! Les I did not see you quote but Tyler at Sweetwater tech support found it also and I did it and presto, Logic works again. That worked for me! I had to changed the optical in and out to ADAT and then change it back. Weird?! I wonder why it does that? I did not even have to power down the Motu unit. It started working right away. I am online again. Woohoo!!! Thanks guys
