Logic_4.8
Hi, I'm trying to convert to MP3 in Logic, but the Bit Rates will not appear in Logic (TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER: Bit Rate Mono, Bit Rate Stereo) ... How do I enable this function? The first screenshot is from Apple Support: Fig 1. This what I have at present: Fig 2. But when I try to convert to MP3 - I get this: Fig 3. The File Format is greyed out! How do I enable this function as shown in Fig 1? (i.e.: TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER:- Bit Rate Mono, Bit Rate Stereo). Thanks Edited March 10 by Logic_4.
Solution des99 Posted March 10 Solution Share Posted March 10 (edited) You have "PCM" selected, so you are seeing the options for the PCM format. Click on "MP3" (the word), to select that item, and see the options for the MP3 format. (Clicking the checkbox includes MP3 in the export, clicking on the menu item "MP3" shows it's export properties - two different functions.) Logic_4.8
I have done (see Fig 3.), but I can't get the variable bit rates to appear as an option (see Fig 1.)
des99
The first screenshot (from Apple Support) shows MP3 is selected. None of your screenshots have MP3 selected, they all have "PCM" selected (the blue box indicates that menu item is currently selected.). You need to select MP3, like in Apple's screenshot, by clicking on "MP3" (not the checkbox.) Edited March 10 by des99

des99
Fig 3 shows me, quite clearly, that you have clicked on the mp3 *checkbox*, but you haven't clicked on the MP3 menu item, and so still have the PCM menu item selected, and are thus seeing the PCM export options. You need to click on MP3 - the word - to select it and see it's export options. Seriously - just *try* it... David Nahmani
Not exactly the most intuitive interface, but the reason is, you can check several destinations (to bounce different file formats at the same time) but you can have only one selected (and displaying its parameters) at a time.

Also, in earlier versions (pre 10.7), when you clicked on the checkbox, Logic *also* selected the associated menu item. It no longer does this (either a bug, or by design) and it seems to confuse people.
