walt52
Hi there, I've been having an issue with my virtual MIDI keyboard. I'm using the keyboard on my Mac. For some reason, the audio isn't playing when I press the notes (either using the keyboard or by pressing the keys on the virtual keyboard). However, everything records fine, and the MIDI notes register when recording -- I just can't hear anything when I try to play "live". Piano roll works fine -- MIDI Out is green. My keyboard is working fine, and Logic is registering the input. Would anyone know a solution to this? It's so frustrating! Thanks. Atlas007
What instrument plugin are you using? Is it turned on? What about the channelstrip level? Edited March 25 by Atlas007
walt52
Hey Atlas007, thanks for the reply. Yes, the MIDI Out button is already turned on. Going through all of my settings to try and find out what's happening.
Atlas007
I had replied too fast (regarding the MIDI out button)… I just edited my original reply with different questions…
walt52
Ah, okay! 1. This is happening across all of the virtual instruments, there doesn't seem to be any difference. I'm using Classic Electric Piano, Smooth Analog Lead, Silky Smooth Bass, and some instruments from Spitfire Audio. I'm using a few plugins on top of those -- DearVR MICRO is the only 'external' plugin, all the others are ones like Logic's Stereo Delay, Chorus, etc. 2. They're all turned on and going through to Stereo Out. The busses are all working fine too. 3. Channelstrip levels are fine when playing back MIDI recrodings, but they show no sign of life when I try to play through the keyboard (or click the notes on the virtual keyboard). The weird thing is that I can click notes with the mouse cursor on the piano roll and they'll play -- it's just the virtual keyboard that's causing issues... Thanks. Atlas007
Did you try rebooting your Mac, Logic and tested same with a new project (not using an existing template)?
polanoid
Just to make sure; by "virtual keyboard" you're referring to the Musical Typing keyboard, yes?

Hey Atlas007, Yep, have done that -- it seems like the problem goes away on new projects when starting fresh. I've tried copying over all the tracks from this song to a new project, but it seems like the same problem appears again when I do that... Something must be wrong with a plugin I'm using or something. I'll keep digging. Thank you for your help. 6 minutes ago, polanoid said: Just to make sure; by "virtual keyboard" you're referring to the Musical Typing keyboard, yes? Hey polanoid -- yes, I mean the Musical Typing keyboard!
Atlas007
Please keep us posted! Sharing your experience (and eventual solution) will surely benefit to others! Have you considered importing only one track at a time to test and find out when the problem occurs? Edited March 25 by Atlas007

That sounds like a good idea, I'll try doing that now.
