Ronan McQuillan
Hey everyone, hoping someone has a solution to this. Logic has just recently stopped working for me, out of the blue, mid-session. After a week of re-installing and trying to get it running again with some project deadlines looming, I'm starting to go crazy. I'm running Logic 10.7.7 on a 14-inch Macbook Pro 2021. 16Gb ram 500Gb storage. Ventura 13.2.1 I've tried all the basic troubleshooting and have reinstalled Logic 5 times. I've tried to re-download the Sound Library, but Logic will only give me the Reinstall Sound Library option repeatedly, with all other options greyed out (see attached). I tried a complete reinstall again today, wiped the external hard drive and reformatted it, so there's no trace of the old sound library or apple loops. Today's effort to reinstall Logic and the sound library seemed to work before hanging for 9 hours until I quit the app. (150MB internet download, so that wasn't the issue either). When I launch Logic it doesn't load like it should, with no menu option prompts from the initial load view. It just appears as the standard toolbar option up top until I select a project to open. Any Ideas, or has anyone been in this situation? This thread was the closest I could find, but nothing worked as a solution : I really appreciate any help you can provide. Do you mean, Logic isn't loading a default template when it starts? And when you load a project, it works normally? I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve by reinstalling Logic multiple times. Or something else? Or is the problem just the sound library issue, but otherwise Logic is working normally?

Or something else? Or is the problem just the sound library issue, but otherwise Logic is working normally? Thanks for getting back to me. The problem started with logic not running even basic functionality. Out of sync, plugins not loading, inability to load instruments or basic editing. Any amount of reboots wouldn't fix the issue. After troubleshooting it, I decided to go for a complete reinstall to see if third-party plugins were the issue. Now when opening Logic, it doesn't ask to open a project as per project handling settings and the project must be selected from the open menu. Once the project starts loading, it asks to continue downloading the sound library. This process doesn't complete or if it does, on the next reboot will ask to download the library again. Even with the project open the catch play head, play, stop functionality doesn't run in time, and the audio won't play. There seems to be a disconnect between the sound library files and the filing system. I can see all the instruments downloaded but Logic doesn't know where to find them even tho they are in the default download location (see attached). See if any of these suggestions help?
Solution Ronan McQuillan Posted March 29 Author Solution Share Posted March 29 Update. Good News....... After trying every possible suggestion, I uninstalled the Logic app, cleaned out all folders and files related to logic, and scrubbed all third-party plugins and related files. I then performed a clean download and install of the latest Mac OS Ventura 13.3 and reinstalled Logic. Happy to report I'm back in business. I hope this post helps somebody in the same situation. Thanks again for your help.
