nickpowell
1. In Piano roll editor, is there any way to make hitting a midi note show up on the keyboard on the left hand side, as per cubase? This is really useful for example when you're writing in notes to a sample patch with different notes spread accross a keyboard to help identify what sample is mapped to what note. 2. Also in piano roll. When I use the pointer tool and shift to create a zone to highlight, for example, velocity information in the hyper editor bit at the bottom, instead of just highlighting the notes that the square the pointer creates covers, it highlights all the notes covered in that time period (not a very well described, but I hope someone understands). I'll give an example.... some of the notes on my controller keyboard are a bit$&@+% and send out really high velocity information, so I just want to be able to grab the velocities that are abnormally high altogether and reduce them, without reducing the velocities of all the other notes that have played normally. 3. Is there any setting that affects how quickly Logic responds to moving audio? It takes a painfully long time to readjust when you move regions, really irritating if you're nudging something back and forth in a loop to get it to sit right. 4. I often write music for TV where there will be several versions (20, 30 60 secs for example). In cubase you would put all the versions of the video into a video track along the time line in the arrange window and do all the versions in the same project. You can line up the start of video with a barline easily by cropping video like any other region. This is great because, changes to effects/ eq's etc for different instruments will then automatically all three versions. It seems mad, but I can't work out how it's possible to do anything like this in Logic, but I can't really beleive it isn't as it seems like such a drastic limitation. 5. Has anyone got any tips for making Rewire less glitchy? I keep finding that tracks playing Reason won't play in the mix, but suddenly start working if solo'd, also weird dropouts of reason tracks at the eginning of the song.... general unhappiness, really. Any help o an of these things would be brilliant thanks Nick
muses
Q2. Yes you can. Use the Transform Window. It would take too long for me at the moment to write down what you need to do, but if you scan the manual and read up on it, and you still have questions, feel free to ask. Beer Moth
Also re Q2,just shift select the notes you want to edit, either in piano roll, score or event list, then adjust vel as required.

nickpowell
Muse 'Yes you can. Use the Transform Window.' Do you mean the Velocity limiter? That seems incredibly long-winded compared to just grabbing the notes you want and pulling their values down. Also Cloggy, that's the thing I'm finding I can't do, as it grabs all the notes in the time period I scroll accross, not just the wants I draw a box around. Can you change this? Thanks N
muses
Nick. You're talking about the presets. No, you need to click on the checkbox at the top (sorry don't remember the name right now and I'm not at my studio computer). Once you click this off, all the setting are adjustable. You can then tailor to suit your needs. Again, I can't go through a step-by-step it at the moment, but maybe that'll help you get started.
Beer Moth
When I said shift select I meant Hold down shift and select each note with the cursor, not rubberbanding. Or you could ruberband them as you are doing and deselect in the same way (Shift and select each note to deselect them!). If you get what I mean. Beer Moth
Come to think of it, if it's always the same notes that are causing problems just select one of them (say Bb) and in the edit menu select all equal objects and adjust the velocity in the event list or with the vel. tool. If you've got 2 notes that are duff, select one of each and do the above. Should speed things up a bit for you. Let me know if it works...
nickpowell
Thanks... both of those work. I guess it's all part of getting used to a new system but it seems really illogical to me that it Logic highlights notes outside the rubber band by default, I can't see what use that could be, and it makes something that's really simple and quick in cubase a bit fiddley. Hey, you don't know how to make a missing transport bar reappear in Soundtrack Pro, do you? That's my latest headache! Thanks again Nick
