Logic Pro 10.7.8 is out!

Recommended Posts

What is this used for which was included in the update for 10.7.8?

'Pressing the Control key while launching Logic Pro now adds an option to launch the Core Audio driver with Audio Unit plug-ins disabled on launch.

I'm talking about pressing Record though. For example you want to record some vocals while accompanying yourself on a piano but don't want to record the piano.

Ahh. Well, that sucks.

For troubleshooting, I expect.

Could be handy for troubleshooting (and, if necessary, editing) projects that are crashing or throwing up overload messages.
Could also be useful for replacing 3rd-party plugs with Logic plugs if you want to export the project to iPad.

The display of which AU plugins are loading when loading a project is very welcome...

Another new feature: (edit) Hmm seems not, 10.7.7 is doing this also. First time I'd noticed (unless I did before, and forgot!) 😊

I notice the Propellerheads and rewire logos have now been removed from the About box...

And best of all - "10.7.8" is a much prettier looking number, than "10.7.7" was, in the loading splash screen. This will no doubt lift my spirits even more, every time I run Logic... 😁

Anyone got this to work?:

Quote

Software Instrument channel strips now display custom patch names from Multi Instrument environment objects that they are cabled to.

The External Instrument object now includes a Bank and Program change settings (which is great!), but if I cable this channel strip to a multi instrument, I don't see the patch names from it here (or in the track header or anywhere else)...

And for other software instruments, there is no display or setting of the MIDI bank/program change that it could apply to...

Yeah, that's a weird one, as in the release notes it says "Software Instrument tracks now offer an Input Monitoring button to allow instruments to be played independently of track selection."

I don't see that Input Monitoring button for software instruments on either the Track Header or Mixer.

This is a little oversight.

Clicking anywhere on a selection of regions that include loops with the Glue tool now creates a new region replacing the selection.

The Glue Tools has been named the Join Tool for sometime now.

Hmm. It does not show up for me as an update in the App Store. I'm on Monterey 12.6.2 with an M1 Mac. Do I need Ventura?

No, I'm on Monterey 12.3.1 with an M1 Mac here and I've found it. Try again, hopefully you'll end up finding it?

There seems to be a new way to show MIDI-controller-information while recording MIDI. There's a line displayed now. I think it looked different before? After recording there's the same look with darker controller-info-blocks.

Good news: One can paste channel-strip-settings again to all selected channels.

Cool, nice! 😄 I don't see it here. Maybe it's only in Ventura (I'm on Monterey).

I'm also on Monterey. It's only while you record some MIDI and use like the mod-wheel. Seems new to me and is quite cool, because you can see where that CC-control is.

Ok, that's what I'm trying here but I don't see that white line, only the black vertical bars as usual.

Did you delete Logics preferences after updating? I did that this morning. One new thing is also that the default new project is now 48 khz. But that only happens when you delete preferences.

Someone please remind me of how to save a backup copy of LP 10.7.7 before updating.

Apologies. I just read "Copying the old version before you update" thread.

Just did and now I can see that line during the recording of my mod wheel. Nice! Thanks for pointing that out. 🙂  And my default project is now 48 kHz.

Am i dreaming or is it really true? This damned sidechain-delay-latency bug is gone. Just tested it on a few projects where I had this issue.

I was just thinking the same thing. Not fully confirmed, but seems likely at this point.  Fingers crossed.

Was a dream 😞 . On some projects with about 5 or more sidechaining compressors, it's the same as before. on some projects it is working.
