How to Force PluginManager to Forget Plugins That Can't Be Found?

Hello. I'm on an ongoing quest to solve a Logic crashing issue. Part of this is to clean up my plugin folder. I moved all my plugins into another folder, and started moving certain ones back into Components. Others I don't want anymore.

When Logic starts it runs PluginManager and I end up with a bunch of plugins that have the compatibility status of 'couldn't be opened' (see screenshot). I am selecting the 'Reset & Rescan Selection' button and then restarting Logic, but these plugins aren't disappearing from the list. Any ideas?

Have you checked whether any of those components are in either of the two plugin component folder locations? If so, you'll need to delete them, then restart your machine.

You can also try trashing your AU cache too...

Hi @des99, I take it you're referring to

  • /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
  • /Users/main/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

If so, yes.

This sounds like what's necessary. How do I do that?

Delete:-

~/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache/com.apple.audiounits.cache

and also there was some InfoHelper stuff too that would clear out some plugin data, but I'd need to check exactly what that one is, I can't remember offhand - I'll check...

Edit: Ah, this one:

Quote

Remove the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.InfoHelper.plist
