keepeatingcars
I'm switching from Pro Tools over to Logic, mostly because i dont want to have to be so limited by digidesign hardware. I need 8 ins. But i definately do not want to spend 1200 dollars on a digi 003 rack. So, I plan on buying logic studio and a presonus firestudio project. I have a MacBook, 2.0 GHz, 1 GB ram. I'm also planning on upgrading to 2 GB of ram. So my question is, will i be able to record a full drum set (8 simultaneous tracks) at once with my computer? Will that run smooth, or at least ok on 1 GB? 2 GB? I already read an earlier thread that asked how logic ran on the macbook, but it didn't say anything about recording, only mixing. fader8
So my question is, will i be able to record a full drum set (8 simultaneous tracks) at once with my computer? Hi, welcome. I know for a fact that you can do this in Logic 4 with a G3 400 w/256 meg of RAM. So, you really shouldn't have a problem.
consagrado
what I do is put everything into an analog mixer first then I find that perfect sound using the mixer...then I use the out puts from the mixer to go into my UX2 in stereo....it works fine to me...the only thing u dont get is the ability to edit levels in Logic...but i dont see the problem since you have a mixer

keepeatingcars
hmmm... if i shouldnt have a problem with this then why does logic/apple "highly recommend" 2 gb? not that i'm disagreeing with you, i just want to get things straight and make sure im not wasting any money lol

The 2 gig recommendation really comes into play when mixing lots of tracks at high buffer settings with lots of plugs and samples loaded. But you'll learn to work around the limitations if you choose to stick with 1 gig.
