Strange Behavior from Delay Designer

I have opened up an instance of delay designer and set it up to have a 5 tap delay. When I run the track, sometimes I get 5 taps, but usually it abruptly stops at 2. When it stops at 2, sometimes it simply stops mid-tap, cutting off the lyric. Sometimes, the delay picks up again on the 4th or 5th tap. I can't figure this one out. Can anyone think of any reason why it is not processing properly. I have checked all automation channels, and nothing there looks to be a problem. I find it weird that every so often, I get the proper effect, but not always.

Long ago (Logic Express 6 or early Pro 7) I had a similar issue with Stereo Delay where under very special conditions there were discontinuations (like silence for half a second or so) in Stereo Delay's output signal. By experimenting I figured the conditions out and reduced the song to the essential minimum for the thing to happen. I then sent a bug report to Apple and got an answer (!) and it was fixed.

The conditions were

1. A very short audio region (less than 1 bar, and I think the underlying file was as short)

2. A certain position of the region. It worked for several positions in a certain step width.

Well, firstly Delay Designer is a different thing, and secondly "my" bug was fixed... But maybe you could do some research in the direction I adumbrated and try to reduce the song to contain nothing but what is necessary to reproduce the issue and then upload it here and send a bug report with the file's link to apple.

Thanks Jope.

Where do I upload the file? And do you know where I send it to Apple? I looked on the Support page and I didn't see a place to send questions.

You can upload files with your posts here. After uploading, your browser should show you the file's location when you move the mouse pointer over it in the thread. Apple's feedback site is here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/logicpro.html

Speaking of the Delay Designer - if the presets are any indication, it sounds rather ugly/useless to me. Has anyone attained some truly musical sounds with it?

Yes. I hardly ever use presets for synthesizers or effects, but if you understand how it works, Delay Designer is easy to use and useful. For example you can design delays sounding as if there were feedback, but being over after some reflections so they don't disturb anymore.

The only thing I am missing in Delay Designer is the facility to invert tap's outputs or the feedback line. That would be useful to create diffusers with allpass characteristic.
