mauve
You know like in the Garage Band and some other DAW's you can see the grid through regions. It is kinda convenient when nudging/moving them with presicion. Is there a way to do it in Logic? Or what's your trick? Thanks
RRoy
I probabaly shouldn't be answering this, being a Logic newbie, but I don't think this can be done in Logic. Which is a shame as those bar lines can be very useful when editing multiple drum tracks or just about anything else for that matter.
mauve
Thanks man. But it is a shame for a leading DAW not to have that simple and essential feature. Unless I am wrong about it being essential.
sayenex
I never thought about that because I've never used anything but Logic. but now that I do think about it, It would be pretty cool to have that option. yay Evan
mauve
I can't figure out how can you do without it. How do you edit audio if you don't have a clearly visible reference?

chellstrom
I can't figure out how can you do without it.How do you edit audio if you don't have a clearly visible reference? What about the timeline that is on top of the arrange page and in the sample editor? 8) There is also the info popup with all the positional information when you're using the edit tools. (marquee, scissor etc.) Zoom in as close as you need to perform precise edits. What kind of edits are you having trouble performing?
mauve
If for instance a drum stroke is a bit late I'd like to chop right before and after that hit and then slide that piece to a desired pace. But I need to see where the grid line are. The ruler is to far up and wouldn't allow for precise positioning. Pro Tools has same problem. I can do it in Live with lightning speed. So it is kinda a bummer.
bradswan
DP is like that, definitely helps with editing. This was one of the first things I noticed when using Logic for the first time.

This way when you move the region in the arrange window you will see a line extend all the way to the bar ruler showing you where your hit happens. Also you could do a more accurate edit with "stripe silence" command (cntrl-X) while region is selected. But it would be great to add an adjustable translucent feature to the regions. Just like they have for automation view.
Eric Wikman
Yea, Cubase has this and it was hard to get by w/o it in Logic. Cubase also has a split screen area, where you can load up on rulers on any kind.... and when you scroll your arrangement, the split screen area stays right next to the area/tracks you are editing. Kind of nice feature. I'm lovin' Logic 8 BTW.
