woodenboy
... all the samples have to be reloaded? I can't work this out for the life of me... every time I hit save it takes forever for all the samples to load again.
muses
I hate this, too. I wonder if it's an oversight, or if there's reason to the madness. Should this be mentioned in the bugs database?
Justin-Ch
It doesn't happen to me in Pro 7. My samples are on a second internal HD. Where are yours?

Matt Mayfield
It might be doing something weird with audio files. Try doing a Consolidate Project, and see what happens.
muses
My EXS samples are on my main internal drive. My other VIs are distributed over two external and one extra internal drives.

I'll try that and see what happens. Shame you have to do it after you've already saved as project.
guavadude
check your assest prefs. I'm guessing you have something checked that says add files to project.
editbrain
are you doing "save as project"? if so then you have move or copy audio/samples/blah blah checked. you should save as project once, and then just do "Save" or "Save As" check that.. That's the problem, and I think what woodenboy was mentioning, too (although, I don't want to speak for him)... Even after a Save As Project, it keeps reloading all the samples every time you hit Save. Really, it should only have to do this once when you open the session, not every time you hit Save. That's the way I used to do it in L7. Is no one else experiencing this?
editbrain
I cannot reflect on Logic 8. I haven't purchased or used it. I wonder if there is a setting like, refresh samples after save? i don't know. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
woodenboy
Hey, sorry about lateness of response, I didn't get any emails about replies Sorry, should have mentioned it's Logic 8, which automatically saves project folders. And yes, I do have the assets options checked to copy the files but that should only happen once. I just tried a consolidate... and it just did a whole loading process over again. And it still exhibits the same behaviour when I hit save. Also, after I've saved and I try to close the project, Logic asks me to save again even though I've made no further changes. muses
woodenboy, do you have third-party VIs as well, and is it also loading those samples up?
woodenboy
No, it's just stuff that comes with Logic. The "Yamaha Grand Piano" samples in particular take ages.

Interesting, for me it happens on my 3rd party stuff as well. Thing is that it seems random and arbitrary. Some projects work properly, some don't. I guess if no one else is experiencing this, it can't be called a bug. Maybe it's just one of those glitches that eventually get ironed out. guavadude
i had this problem when I had the assest pref to include the impulse responses. Everytime I hit save it would reload everything. Drove me crazy. Disabled it and it went away. I don't get this when copy audio files option is on.

triplets
If you just want to save you have to uncheck include Assets, there's no other way.
