Ganeshmac.com
I am a saxophonist and I want to use Mainstage to change the sound of my horn and put some effects on it in live. Could you tell me how to do it. What to use... etc... I just started to use this program. I wanted to use a pedal and a midi controller (don't have them yet) and assigne some effects that I can control with my foot or hands want I don't play. groovecake
The first thing you need is an audio interface to get the sound of your microphone into the computer so it can be processed. I recommend the MOTU Ultralite.
Ganeshmac.com
And then, I was told that I can find some pedals with USB to put the wah-wah or wami effects...
groovecake
Yep. What you want to look for is a MIDI pedal board. If you find one that uses USB, great. If not, you can run MIDI from the pedal board into the audio interface (assuming it supports MIDI, which a lot of them do).
Ganeshmac.com
As my budget is not so big. groovecake
I don't know much about the Alesis stuff, and the link you sent me is in a language other than English...but chances are it will work just fine for your purposes.
Ganeshmac.com
And is there a time problem when I use effects. In the sense that I play and the sound comes just after... Do you happen to have this kind of problem...
groovecake
That is called latency. Go to Mainstage - Preferences - Audio/MIDI and click in the audio tab. There is a setting for your audio buffers. The lower you can set that, the less latency there will be. However, the lower you set it, the greater the possibility that you will have some drop-outs or pops and clicks, depending on how many plug ins you are using. Basically, its a matter of tweaking your system to find what works for you.

Retails for less than $500 and will make your system sound like a million bucks! Alesis and MOTU sound tinny and muddy by comparison.
