Matt Mayfield
I am experiencing some inconsistent behavior with Logic 8, built-in software instruments, and the "No HMT" checkbox and Hermode tuning. With Hermode tuning on (I've been using jazz/pop 3/5/7/all), the "No HMT" checkbox on the Arrange instrument panel seems to either have no effect, or puts the instrument into a non-equal fixed temperament that I can't identify. After searching the forums for "hermode" and "hmt," I have not seen any other comments about this. Is anyone else experiencing this, or is there a setting I've overlooked? Thanks, Matt
Morerecords
i ran into that once or twice in L7, but now instaed of using "no HMT" I just go to a different tuning and no probs
Matt Mayfield
Thanks for the reply, but I don't see how that achieves what I'm looking for. Is there actually a way to set a different tuning per track? What I'm asking about is having some instruments use HMT, and some use equal temperament, as it says it is supposed to do in the manual. It's not working that way - HMT remains activated on all tracks, even the ones where I click No HMT.
Beer Moth
You can set the tuning in Kontakt 2,if that's any help. Even build your own.
Morerecords
no this is not possible. You can only have a "global" tuning. The Linplugs and as C said Kontakt offer additional tunings per instrument. Others are Zebra and I think CA5000 too. For cool tunings check out the lucy tunings. I bet That would be amazing to have multiple tunings, BTW (multiple time sigs too)
Matt Mayfield
Yeah it would be nice. Unfortunately the problem remains: even though Logic's manual says that the "no HMT" checkbox is supposed to disable Hermode tuning for that track, it does not work - HMT remains on all tracks if it is enabled in the project settings. This makes it basically unusable for realistic orchestra applications, like combining strings (HMT) with piano or harpsichord (equal temperament). I've filed a bug report with Apple, and if you use Hermode tuning, I would urge you to as well: http://www.apple.com/feedback/logicpro.html
