T0nt0
I have not updated my macOS for a while (Catalina 10.15.7). My music system is stable, working fine. However, I now find I have to update as my macOS is too old for some of the new music apps. My QUESTION: Should I jump from Catalina straight to macOS 14, or go for an earlier known to be stable version ? I am home hobbyist. I do not run huge Logic projects. thanks for any replies List of macOS: macOS 14: Sonoma (Latest: 14.1.1) macOS 13: Ventura (Latest: 13.6.2) macOS 12: Monterey (Latest: 12.7) macOS Big Sur 11.6.7 macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Edited November 20 by T0nt0 prose errors
David Nahmani
I've been happy with Sonoma and Logic Pro 10.8, however you have a couple of things to consider: Are you using 3rd party plug-ins? If you are, you'll have to consider whether or not they're compatible with Sonoma. Are you on an intel machine? There's a known graphic bug that occurs with the Intel+Sonoma combo that was reported here:
T0nt0
my machine is : 2018 iMac 4.2GHz quad-core 7th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz, 16GB 2400MHz DDR4, 2TB Fusion Drive (listed in my signature). So avoid Sonoma. Ventura then...?
Solution David Nahmani Posted November 20 Solution Share Posted November 20 Just now, T0nt0 said: So avoid Sonoma. Ventura then...? I have never used Ventura, went straight from Monterey to Sonoma. Monterey+10.7.9 has been good to me.
T0nt0
thanks -> Monterey 10.7 I will wait a few days to see if anyone else chimes in about Monterey with an intel iMac.
Dynamic_Notes
Im on an intel iMac (see sig) and Monterey is running pretty good here. Apart from a few sundry glitches and quirks which you always get anyway, its pretty rock solid. Possibly the best OS I've had so far on this Mac and definitely not slower. It seems quite common, people want to skip Ventura, as according to some, its not been a good experience. Im keen to look at Logic 10.8 BUT Im not willing to risk it with the graphics issues people are up against. I also have to consider compatibility (K14 UCE). I prefer to wait and would much rather a stable system.
T0nt0
I have installed macOS Monterey 12.7. After a few days Logic seems to be working okay. The Logic programme reviewed all my UAD plug-ins, which looked a bit scary for few minutes. QUESTION: I am running Logic 10.4.4. I was thinking I should upgrade to a more recent Logic version that is compatible with Monterey. However when I open the App store and look at my Account Apps it says "No Updates. All your apps are up to date" Any suggestions. ?
Dynamic_Notes
You should be able to install 10.7.9. Thats the last version for Monterey and thats what Im on. The App store can be finicky sometimes. You might have to look a bit closer at the options when you log in. Not at my Mac atm so cant give specifics. Dewdman42
compress LogicPro.app into a zip file and remove it. Then go to the app store and hit update for Logicpro..it will tell you that you have to use an old version and then it will install 10.7.9
