zzfdvz
So I've been using Logic 8 with a quad mac pro, 3 gigs of ram, and recording/working from a seagate external usb2 drive. everything was fine, i could run about 60 plus tracks with as many effects as i wanted and little to no system overloads unless i was doing something stupid. i just upgraded to leopard, and there is a HUGE hit on my usb bandwidth in general. even copying files onto the drive is taking longer. i decided to see if it was just leopard and logic not playing well, but it is not that. i copied over the same folder to my internal drive and it works great. i have no idea, i tried restarts, repairing permissions etc, all to no avail. spotlight is not indexing the drives, and the external drive is in mac osx format with journaling available. zzfdvz
I found a solution to my own problem that I think might help some users getting slow disk errors. Leopard is not recognizing my external harddrive in the high speed usb port in the system profiler. the only way to get it to do so is to actually unplug the external drive and re-plug it in. simply ejecting the drive will not work. it also appears that you have to disconnect/reconnect every time you restart your computer.
