syncsailor
ignorantly twisting knobs was fun for a week or so, but i think its time that i really understand how to use multiband compression and its principles. can someone point me in the right direction? books, articles, etc...? thanks so much. syncsailor

fader8
Hey sync, How are things in the "deep south". I've always wondered whether that term implied geographic or demographic boundaries. Anyway, MB compression is nothing more than regular old compression but split into multiple freq bands, much like a parametric eq. Note that some multiband comps are also multiband expanders which adds another dimension to the whole thing. Plenty of online tutorials and books, etc. for basic compressor operation. Once you know that well, just apply it to each band on its own.
