Importing XML From FCP

Hello all,

 

Question, How do I get my audio and video into Logic Pro 8 from FCP 6 ?

 

I exported an XML from Final cut, and imported it into Logic, and absolutley nothing showed up, no audio or video.

 

can someone tell me whats happening here?

out of Final Cut..export an embedded OMF file. Logic will open the OMF file, and your arrange window will look just like your audio screen in Final Cut. I do this ALL the time. (ok..mostly in PTools, but L8 seems to handle OMF's just fine). HOWEVER...you most likely will not get Pan or Volume automation (it's weird...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...)

 

That'll take care of the audio. Export your video from FCP as a quicktime movie..320x240 w/Sorenson codec is usually nice size to deal with if you just want to watch it back on your computer screen. FYI...PTools tends to like MJPEG compression better than Logic..but Logic seems fine with Sorensen/Sorensen 3.

 

Or use SoundTrack Pro It's actually not bad.

Thanks for the reply, Thats exactly what I did last night, Export QT movie, and opened it in Logic, and then Export OMF from FCP to Logic and that worked fine. I just felt like I was creating files that I didn't need to, from what I understand XML should give you both Audio and Video,

 

but its not working for me at all. Anyway, the OMF and QT Movie way of going about it is fine for now. But can anyone tell me how to use the XML option?
