MCU Plays Notes via MIDI...

Hey Brains Trust.

My Mackie Control v1.02 works very well. Happy with that!

When I select MIDI tracks or instruments and use the Mackie transport or faders etc notes are played thru the armed MIDI track.

I know the Mackie is a MIDI device, but I thought that it would be discreet thru it's own send and receive channel regardless of track selection in Logic?

Any ideas here?

BTW it has always done this and I have only ever used it with LP8.

Tanks boiz..

I had this happen once with my MCU Pro. Some how I got two instances of it installed in Logic 7. Deleting both from Logic, closing Logic and then rescanning for Control Surfaces once I opened Logic back up fixed it. Or something like that as I sort of remembered what I did.

Well, I do get the second Mackie Control pop up on launch which really freaks everything out. But I just delete it and the original one works fine except for this?

If I go into the Audio/Midi Utility & touch any of the other MIDI devices it launches a second MC in Logic.

I did try the pref removal when I first hooked it up, but I will do it again.

Problem solved. Thanks guys.

I kept stripping preferences etc and nothing changed. I then decided to hang the Mackie off the MIDI I/O of the RME Fireface800.

This made an instant difference by providing the discreet MIDI the Mackie needed.

Working as intended now. Thanks for the answers to this post as I wasn't entirely sure if it was a problem or the norm.

Phew... it sucked the way it was!
