Tascam US144 - Logic Express

I wonder if you could help me.

 

I got tascam us144 to do some recording, and thought that it would go perfectly with logic express 7, and it's never worked.

 

I've installed LE7 and it's not picking the US144 up in the LE assistant as a interface.

 

I've got the latest drivers for US144, and the latest firmware - but it doesn't seem to pick it up.

 

Please say someone knows why this is happening.

 

Tascam did work fine with garageband in tiger, but having a few issues with it in leopard (it cuts out after approx. 50 bars) but thats another issue.

What are your computer specs? How are you interfacing it?

 

Does it work with iTunes and other general applications?

I got a 2 Ghz MacBook Pro, running leopard, with 1 GB ram.

 

I've not used it much whilst I've had leopard installed. The US144 worked perfectly with garageband when using tiger, and it kinda works in leopard. I've always had the problem of logic not picking up the tascam, but garageband surficed so I didn't bother trying to get it to work with logic. Now that garageband is not liking it in leopard, I thought logic would be the next logical step, but nope.

Without launching LOGIC, try setting your sound output (and input) to the US144 in SYSTEM PREFERENCES. Try playing iTunes or a CD through your system.

 

Is your USB cable connected directly from your Tascam to your computer or are you using a HUB to connect the two?

 

Lastly, there are settings in the TASCAM set up that may be affecting your output.

yeah the sound works alright.

 

It's going straight to my system (ie usb goes directly from us144 to computer). Looking on different forums, there does appear to be a common occurrance with this problem.
