n8tron
been experimenting with the chord track, which is a cool idea but in practice is proving to be less than ideal for audio loops. I grabbed a few to make a country groove, but when I change the chord the resulting pitch shifting sound terrible! Any tips on getting this to work right or is that just the way it is? Seems like the chord track would work great with midi but not audio. Is this just logic algorithms? also... in the logic movies on apple.com it shows quickly time compress/expanding loops right in the arrange window by dragging them, but i have no been able to do that either. David Nahmani
The timestretching algos for Apple Loops don't sound good for any material. They sound better for some, worse for other. Also the amount of pitch shifting you are trying to do has an influence on the sound: if the loop was originally recorded in E and you're playing it in Bb then you're asking for trouble. As for quick timestretching by dragging, that's for regular audio recordings, not Apple Loops, since those already automatically timestretch to fit the project. jonkuzma
Hi. As David mentioend there is a limit to what can be done with key changes using Apple loops (audio or blue ones). Also if you want to timestretch an apple loop you need to bounce it so it is an audio file. Otherwise you can't do it. The Apple loops have markers that are there to allow you to change the tempo or key..So they are locked so to speak..Which explains why you can't timestretch them..By bouncing you make them an audio file. Then you can use the timestretch feature you mention..JON
n8tron
thanks for the replies... at least I know its not just me. As far as the in arrange window time stretching for normal audio files... how is that done? I read in the manual you can go to audio->adjust region to locators, but what are the locaters? It doesn't seem to be the loop locators. and I still having found a way to stretch it via the actually region like on apple.com.
