Logic 8.1?

After reading lots of posts about people having problems

with multi-channel plugins in the 8.0 version, I wonder when

the first Logic 8 update will appear that has fixed this?

I'm specially referring to XLN Audio Addictive Drums;

it seems that the multi-channel bug is within Logic.

Anyone has some inside information on updates?

A Logic update will not address the multi-channel issue. Some plugs don't work because Apple changed the way Logic handles multi-out plugs. XLN will be responsible for updating their plug to make it work under the new spec. There's a massive thread relating to BFD and this same issue. NI, FXPansion and others have already released their updates.

Ah, that changes the whole plot, I was afraid that XLN were not going

to change this, however, I just read that they are going to offer 8 multi-outs

in the next update...phew! 8)

Sorry, this is a bit unrelated, but for any updated multi-out program I have some advice:

I can say that BFD is working well. I found that with any multi-out program update, make sure that you trash the com.apple.audiounits file in Library/cache and any au prefs before restarting and it should work well.

Actually that is wrong in the specific case of Addictive Drums it IS something that has to be fixed in a Logic update and I am sure that they will.

Presently it works fine as a multi-output but will not open as a stereo version. However if you do not assign the kit pieces to auxes in the multi-output version you effectively have a stereo version.

How did you get it to work as a multi out. I'm having the exact opposite problem, where I don't have the option to select it as a mulit out, only stereo.

thanks,

Evan

Make sure you have the latest update. Remember you have to uninstall the old version first and then have the DVD in the tray when you install the new one. Then the AU validator will re-scan it.

But!!! we still need an update from Logic regarding Multi channel instruments... Is anyone out there able to assign an instruments' multi outs to respond to MIDI CC? Can anyone automate these extra outs with a MIDI controller? I can't even assign the volume fader to MIDI control..Please write Apple on their suggestion database to help make tending to this bug a priority.

actually what i'd love is to have it so when using ultrabeat, or hitting keys on the piano/controller, or even trigger pad on my controller, that they are viewable which keys are hit on the piano roll too, would be a very handy feature!!

Here's a workaround for the meantime.

If you have an older version of Logic open a new file, load and set up the multichannel instruments you want to use. Save the file and open in Logic 8.

This, for some reason, makes the multichannel function available to instruments that lost this function in Logic 8.

It's a little cumbersome but it works.
