St3pHaNi3
Ok this is not really a Logic problem, but i'm sure some of you will be using the Rewire mode with Reason. Although i knew about Rewire for a long time, i never really tried it, so i thought i'd make myself a favour instead of exporting & importing all my sounds from Reason to Logic. Anyway my problem is that i launch Logic first, but when i then launch Reason it doesn't get in Rewire mode, like i read it should. The 'Audio Card' indication is showing instead. How can i fix this? Thanks for reading Stephanie
AllyMusicGirl
NIce to see a fellow female on the forum - sounds like a preferences issue, but we'll need to know more about your set-up. What are you running?

AllyMusicGirl
Also have you tried plugging in your M-Audio FireWire Solo? That and a fresh restart may do the trick, if not trash the prefs for Reason and restart. Forum your thoughts?
Molurus
You need to upgrade to Reason 3.0.5 before it's seen by Logic 7 as a slave on an Intel Mac.

Molurus
Yep, I forgot to mention that also Logic 7.2.1 is needed. That is both, Reason 3.0.5 and Logic 7.2.1 (or later, of course). I'd forgotten how painful it was to switch to Intel...

jonkuzma
Hi..If you are a registered Reason user the 3.05 is a free maintenance update..I don't know what the audio thing is..Other than..Make sure both the preferences for Logic and Reason are the same..In L8 go to the mixer and create an aux channel..I also put it in the arrange window.. That will be your rewire channel..If you are opening rewire in 7 however..And have more than one rewire item, say Live and Reason..Most likely you will need to scroll down the list til it starts again for the Reason rewire items..For the most part in 7 the top of the list was for Live..Lots of luck with this..I don't use rewire in Logic that much....I use LIve for rewire than import the audio into Logic...That said I have found rewiring in LP8 to work fine also...I'm just used to another work flow..I needed to clarify that so I don't get misunderstood....A couple things I've found to work best for me is to have in Logics'audio preferences..Live mode for rewire..Also freeze tracks in Logic if you are going to rewire Reason to check out additional instruments..A two bar empty start for both Logic and Reason..Record a four beat click on a track in Reason..When not using or triggering Reason click anywere in iits' empty screen so nothing can be triggered when using Logic..Also if you are recording into Reason..Use the Reason screen..The transport will start both in Reasons transport..But no pre-count..That is the reason for the bar of a click in Reason..I'm sure there are people here with better writing skills than me that could explain it better.. Molurus
Damn! How about Reason 4 and Logic 7.2? No luck I'm afraid... The 7.2.1 upgrade was almost specifically aimed at fixing Intel Mac compatibility with Rewire and a few other bits. I'm sure you can still get it for free from apple.com somewhere. Molurus
oh wait i got logic pro 8 but i still dont know what im doing In this case I doubt it's a problem with the actual Rewire technology. I suggest you have a read at Logic's manual to see how it's all set up.
trebor
im having the same prob iv got logic7 and reason4but no idea how to rewire them please help some one im using reason 4 with logic 7.2.3 you can still get the updates from the apple website cos i only downloaded the update myself a few days ago.My advice to you and anyone who's having trouble setting up rewire in logic is to go to a website called logiccafe.com they've got a step-by-step tutorial on how to rewire reason into logic that makes it so simple and straightforward its a breeze to set up, trust me i was in the same boat as you until i found that site. jonkuzma
Hi. You should be able to use the software update in OSX to get to the latest version of LP7.There is no reason ( OK pun intended) that Reason4 should not work in LP7 on an intel mac..JON
emilenitrate
There's also a tutorial on the Propellerhead site for using Reason with Logic and unless they've updated it, it was with Logic 7. I found that that worked better for me than the Logic Cafe method but they're all worth trying. Now I'm using Logic 8 and Reason 4 and the combination is still somewhat dicey. I think the Logic soft synths have it way over the Reason stuff, but Reason is a lot of fun and has some nice tricks. I find myself exporting things between the programs more than rewiring, though. Hopefully, we'll see some improvements in Logic 8.0.1. - Emile
