BerkeyC
Newb question. Will my Motif XS8 connect to my MacBook Pro running Leopard and play nicely with Logic Studio? I'm a complete newb to all this and want to make sure it's even possible to do this before I spend the $$ on Logic Studio. Bonus points: If all you've got is Logic Studio, Leopard, and a Motif XS, and are successfully integrating them all, anything special I need to know/do to get the point where I can start sequencing and recording? Eric J
If the Motif XS has a USB connection then you can probably do it without anything additional. You'll have to check the Motif manual to see if it can use a USB connection for sending MIDI. If it does not, you'll need a MIDI interface. neiljohnstonii
Actually, the XS8 comes with mLan, so you can send midi and 16 channels of audio through just a firewire cable.
BerkeyC
Thanks for your replies, guys. The XS does indeed come with USB and mLan (on the 8 out of the box, anyhow) - I'm just concerned about it all working with Leopard. Yamahasynth.com shows that drivers are being tested for Leopard, but I've been able to download and apply the existing OSX drivers without an issue. Anyone have any first hand experience connecting their XS to Leopard?
