Convincing Trumpet

Recommended Posts

So, if you wanted to put a convincing trumpet lead on a track, what would be your go-to library / plugin?

Okay, when I say "you", I mean "me". And cheap always makes me cheerful!

I'm thinking something along the lines of Andy Diagram's work with James:

Right now, I have Miroslav but I'm thinking that's really a bit too classical for this raspiness...

DId a quick search for "The Trumpet" and came across this old thread..

Can anyone vouch for this particular product Cloggy mentioned? http://www.samplemodeling.com/en/products.php

Any users? Would there be better trumpet sounds (other than the real thing) that I might not have come across?? I'd like to use it for my own Morricone style mock-ups, and the logic trumpets to me just don't cut it.

Just need that extra push before I pull the trigger! :D

Yeah I understand. But I wanna start out with a good sounding "base", so if there's any error I have nothing to blame but myself haha.

My roots are guitar and bass oriented, so synths, or VI's, or keyboards, or whatever the right term is, is very new too me. I've never sampled a thing in my life. Isn't that recording a sound so I can trigger it from my keyboard controller? Like the EX24? I don't use that YET. Still learning the basics. . If It's what I think it is, may as well hire a real player? haha But am keeping the mind open. Thanks for the input.

 hahaha yeah I'm pretty green.

This is probably the state of the art for sampled trumpet. Looking at the list of development guys, there's no slackers in that crowd. Listen well to the demo's though. You'll want to be sure it has all the articulations you think you'll need. Also as others have mentioned, it's going to come down to how well you can program it.
