Subtonic
I'm reading a book right now that I'm recommending to everyone on this forum, even though I'm less than halfway through it. The Creative Habit Tharp is a choreographer who's worked on shows like Movin' Out and Milos Forman's Amadeus movie. The Creative Habit is almost like a collection of best practices for being creative. She writes about how you can't wait for inspiration, how to focus on your creative tasks, how to get out of creative ruts, overcoming your fears, and more. It's very thought provoking and highly recommended. What kinds of things do you do to prep yourself for music creation? Do you have to get yourself into a mode? Or are you so dedicated to your music that you simply can't wait (or your client can't wait) for you to feel like you're ready to work? What do you do to get yourself out of artistic blocks? Have you made those things a habit without realizing it?
Waterboy
That looks like an interesting book.
fader8
Tharp is a choreographer who's worked on shows like Movin' Out and Milos Forman's Amadeus movie. Oh she's done more than that! Thanks for the heads up on this. I love her and have followed her work for years.
Subtonic
Oh she's done more than that! I defer to fader8 and Wikipedia when it comes to her. I think the time is right to read this book, especially when things like GTD start to become regular names.
camillo jr
especially when things like GTD start to become regular names. Hijack: If you like that you might like some other Things!
Subtonic
I'm already deep into OmniFocus. I think it's the best GTD app I've used. Some GTD apps (like iGTD and Things) seem like they're getting way too complicated, at least for me.
