legoat
Anyone have experience trying to run Logic Pro 8 on a G4 dual processor with Pro Tools TDM system? I know the G4 is not officially supported, but if it's functional at all, I'd like to try. Thanks, Jeff
dkgross
you can try, but I think the headaches won't be worth the frustration.
PSPartyband
I was running LP7 on my G4 dual 1ghz and it was sufficient but not great. After upgrading to 8 I used it for a couple weeks on the G4, but real soon decided to get a used G5 and really glad I did. You can run it on the G4 but if you can afford it, UPGRADE! I found my G5 dual 2.5 on ebay for $1100.00 and sold the G4 for 750.00 so it only costed $350.00 for a hugh improvement in speed and power. legoat
Thanks. Just the info I needed. How many slots does your G5 have?
PSPartyband
The G5 has two SATA HD bays, so I put in two 500 GB WD SATA drives in it. It has 4 PCI slots, one being used by the video card. I have 4 GB ram but it will support 8 it has 2 Firewire 400 ports and 1 FW 800 and has 3 USB 2.0 ports
legoat
Looks like I'm finally going to have to abandon my SCSI chain. That's the reason I've hung on to this puppy so I could have enough slots for my Pro Tools TDM system and my SCSI drives. It's a sad day, I tell you. Thanks again. dkgross
yup..buh by SCSI check out this place: http://www.powermax.com they pay a fair price for legacy Macs if you buy a new one from them. I've bought a lot of machines from them over the years.
