Sustain note problem in Pro Logic8

Im having a sustain note problem with pro logic 8. I just bought a motif xs8 and im using a general (handshake) MIDI connection to my m-box. Heres the problem: When i set a loop in logic and im playing keys or strings as the loop starts back the first initial note that i played at the beginning of the loop is sustained ..why is this.??? Ive also noticed when i hold a chord down during the loop i see automation taking place. Its these white vertical bars. i hope someone uderstand whats goin on thanks
