consagrado
im sorry it really just tells you whats wrong with ur room and tweaks ur audio according to that
bresnark
Mine will be arriving tomorrow! I'll let you know how well it works. I know, I know - it's cheating. But I rent here. so I really can't acoustically treat my mixing room like I KNOW I need to. ARC is my next best option. Plus, it got a VERY good review from Sound On Sound's Technical Boffin, Hugh Robjohns - who is very sniffy (actually rather elitist, I often find) about such things as acoustic treatment and therefore entirely trustworthy. Fingers crossed, eh? Robin

bresnark
Well, there's a big difference between sound proofing and acoustic treatment - the former being something that stops sound getting out, the latter being something that stop sound staying in (in a sense!) and bouncing around and sounding terrible. You'll notice here... http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=21848&highlight=&sid=3acfd03e0c0a5cd88baf27ea4469f51e ...how most people have acoustic panels stuck to their walls. These won't stop the neighbours hating them, but they will prevent reflections and soundwaves interfering with each other. That means that the music they hear is REAL rather than caused by their room - and they can tweak their mixes in the confidence they're not fixing a problem that isn't really there. Panel's aren't realyl an option for me (I rent) - hence ARC. And, after setting it up yesterday, well I'm amazed. I thought I had muddy, horrible monitors. But no, it was the room after all. Now everything I play sounds more pure, more focussed, infinitely tighter and cleaner. I can really mix now because I know that what I'm hearing is basically what's there to be heard - not the horrible sound of my room echoing everything around. I'd recommend it without hesitation. If you CAN stick up some panels / bass traps etc, then so much the better. But ARC, I would say, does a very good job - even on its own. Whoda thunk it, eh? consagrado
sweet....i can save money...i was going to build and acousto-chamber a portable 8/8 iso room....but it was going to cost way to much for me since i am still in college
bresnark
Again, though, it's worth keeping in mind that something like ARC won't prevent reflections messing with your mic sound while TRACKING. It's really just a mixing / monitoring solution.
