Merge/create one stereo file from 2 tracks. Problems

I am attempting to merge a L & R track into a single stereo track that I can then create an aiff file from.

The method I have followed the first time was to copy/paste my 2 tracks, use glue, choose merge regions per track. Upon playback there was no audio. Then I tried again and a window came up that said no audio for merge and I aborted the process. Another time I got a file but the volume was very low. Obviously I must have done something different to get such different results, but I can't recall what it was as I was just "winging it" trying to achieve something without documenting the steps I took..

I would appreciate someone explaining clearly the procedure to follow to merge two tracks representing a l & R stereo signal into a single stereo track and then bounce it to create a single Aiff file.

Thank you,

Robert

Thank you David, I know it sometimes is easy to forget just how little some of us know about logic but eventually all of us who persevere learn enough to do something (hopefully) creative, (with the generous assistance of people like you!)

While we are on the subject of L and R files ... is there a way of splitting a stereo file ? or even for what I want to do open the stereo file in the sample editor and edit the L and R side separately... To give you and idea ... let's say I did a stereo tom mix from midi to a stereo audio file.... and then decide that I would like a little more separation in the mix... if I could increase the gain on the left side and decrease it on the right at the beginning of a tom fill leave it as is in the middle of the fill and then do the opposite at the end of the fill... I could create a wider stereo field for the toms...is any of that possible ??? or is the only option to go back into whatever drum source I am using to play the midi drums through and edit the tom samples to a wider stereo field (or isolate them onto their own tracks) and re- record (or bounce)???

Thanks

Kevin
