davidrichards1983
I am sorry if this is a basic question, but my technical knowledge leaves a lot to be desired..... I am using logic 7 on an Apple iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83GHz 512MB (2x256MB) 160GB. Should this be enough memory to run logic smoothly? Am running into core overload problems frequently... Many thanks, David
shivermetimbers
Macintosh with PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5 or Intel Core Duo; Intel Core Duo, PowerPC G5, or dual PowerPC G4 processor recommended Logic Node applications require PowerPC G5 or Intel Core Duo and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity 512MB RAM Mac OS X v10.4.3 or later for PowerPC-based systems; Mac OS X v10.4.4 or later for Intel-based systems 1G of ram would be better, but people with much larger processor speeds and memory are going to have the same problem you are experiencing. Other things could be causing you problems. Are you using many audio tracks? What Instruments and how many are you using? What effects plug-ins? Do you 'freeze' your tracks? Jope
Memory: More is better, but it depends. If you do audio recording and/or use many samples, Logic can access the audio data faster if they can be held within the RAM instead of performing much disk I/O. More than 4GB are useless for Logic (as far as I understood it) since Logic can access only 4GB.
noperator
Over 5GB, EXS24 instruments can each address their own memory space if you are into that sort of thing. :}

So take away the last part and keep: More is better. Since the new Mac Pros came out, the price for my Mac Pro memory went down, although I was still able to load up 125 EXS24 and Ultrabeat plugins on just 4 gigs, It just doesn't seem absurd enough!
