akropp
so i have a presonus hp60 i just recently got, as well as logic pro 8 and i'm trying to send the output of each instrument track to output12 as well as individual outputs (output 3, 4, 5 6). i figured i could have everything outputted to output12 and then send each track to a bus, where the bus output would be the secondary instrument bus, but i am only getting the option to output stereo (output 12, output 34, output 56, etc). can anyone shed some light on how i create this scenario? Roger Paolo
if you use mono buses it should be possible to route out to a single output. stereo buses always need 2...
akropp
yeah i realized that, and unless i'm not truly making them mono i'm still only getting the stereo output option. i've clicked on the circle at the bottom of the aux track name to make it mono and it still only gives me stereo outputs
akropp
any insight would be greatly appreciated.

akropp
what is universal track mode?
akropp
regardless of what it is, turning it or off didn't change the issue that i cannot seem to send directly just to a single output from an aux.
shivermetimbers
As confusing as it seems, your headphone mixer is a dedicated 3 channel stereo out put device. Even though you have 6 stereo headphone outputs, you are able to mix any combination of Input A, Input B, or External input. It seems all three outputs are dedicated to only stereo. akropp
I'm not sure I understand your post. the headphone amp is 6 stereo in (mix a, mix, b and external stereo in all mixed together) and 6 stereo out. i'm using a presonus firepod as my daw. however, even if i can only output mono on the line outputs of the firepod, i still want to know how to do this. i should be able to output a mono channel via a mono aux to a mono line output. shivermetimbers
Use an Audio track in Logic and click on the 'Sends' insert. Click on the 'OUTPUT' and then the Mono. Do you have a choice of more than 2 outputs?
akropp
yes, i have a choice of more than 2 outputs. i'm using a firepod which has 8 line outputs. I have already set the track up in this manner. i have a mono track output to output 12. it is also being sent to a mono bus who's output i wanted to put to output 3. attached is a screenshot of what i have. granted in this shot output34 is stereo, but changing it to mono still doesn't give me the correct output options http://www.thesummerwentwest.com/other/logic.jpg
akropp
so in this configuration it works. if i hardpan the bus left i get it to output on channel 3, if i hardpan it right i get it to work on channel 4. however, there ought to be a way to not have to deal with this workaround! Zuelito
I just posted this right before I saw your last post. You've done the right thing. Here is what I wrote: Your output tag will always show a stereo pair. It's confusing but just the way it is. If you want to route something to just 3, select 3-4 and pan it all the way to the Left. In your case, it looks like you've done the right thing. Audio 1 is routed to 1-2, with an additional send to Bus 1. Bus 1 has output 3-4 selected, but panned to the Left to make it only output 3. Bus 2 should have 3-4 selected, and panned all the way to the right, and then it will be your output 4. And so on....
shivermetimbers
It would be nice to have the individual mono outputs. On the buss strip, if you use an 'I/O' insert, what outputs show up? Do you get multi outputs? (Buss insert button, Helper, I/O )
Zuelito
Yeah, actually, that works. Insert the I/O Insert plug (in Utility on LP8) and you can select a single output. In terms of ease of use, however, it takes more steps to do that than it does to just pan left or right. But you're right, that does work.
