How do I play different MIDI sounds simultaneously in logic?

I'm trying to use Logic as a sound module and to Slave it to my MPC 2000.

So far I'm able to get Logic to play when I press play on my MPC. YEY!!

I can play the pads on the MPC, the Logic sounds play and record in the MPC. Great!!!

BUT, when I go to change the sound for the next MIDI channel the previous sound turns into the new sound I trying to set up in the new channel. Why is that??

The same thing happened to me when I first bought my EMU proteus 2000 sound module. The way I solved that problem was I change the keyboard mode from Omni to Multitimbral. I'm trying to use the same "logic" in Logic.

Is it the way I'm setting up my MIDI tracks when I record???

Can you explain just what it is your trying to do?

I'm trying to use Logic 8 as a sound module for my MPC2000. The MIDI patterns will be recording inside the MPC 2000 through MIDI. The MPC2000 being the Master and Logic being the Slave (the sound provider).

Right now I can record MIDI patterns (like a piano) inside the MPC with Logic sounds. But as soon as move to the next MIDI channel in the MPC and choose a new sound (like trumpet) from Logic the trumpet sound starts to play the previous tracks MIDI patterns.

Am I doing something innovative in Logic?? Have any Logic Techs try this yet?? Seems like people are avoiding this thread like the plague

Okay

It seems like I found the solution from the MPC forums ..........

------------------------------

Here's the image of what needs to be done on Logic http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/a9fc7be60e_0.1MB

1.go to environment.

2.create physical input.

3.create channel splitter

4.connect cable form physical in to channel split.

5.connect channel split to the inst you want the channel to trigger.

6.your done

After you make your beat if you dont have usb, like on older mpc models.

1.save each track as corresponding to midi channel

2.save beat on zip

3.go to logic and select under file import, and import midi

4.drag and drop each midi to its corresponding channel

this part should actually take only about one minute.

Dont quantize in logic, keep the swing ofd the mpc. At-least i like it better.

ITs much easier to arrange on a big monitor.

Again, I jacked the info from this thread here http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=89775

I just wanted to share the knowledge just in case someone like myself runs into this. Because I know a lot of people have MPC's and Logic.
