eldorado
Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and new to the mac in general. I just purchused the new mac pro 2.8 xeon 8 core with 2 gigs of memory and a 320 GB hard drive. I plan on purchasing logic next weekend and wanted to know, should I install logic on the 320 hd which I plan on using as the main drive, or should I buy a another internal hd to install logic and leopard on. I've read I should definitely get a seperate hd to save my recordings after the fact(which I plan on doing), but I guess I'm really asking is the 320 hd big enough for logic to run sufficiently, or should I try to make my main hd a bigger one for logic and the rest of the os? Sorry for the long rambling post. : ( I'm a newbie. Just need a point in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any help....Peace

pantomimeHorse
320GB is well good enough for almost anything ! ! ! ! - However, as they're so cheap, there's no harm in sticking another smaller SATA drive on the bus and fast-formatting it for audio recording. You will gain on buffer settings, etc etc. http://www.kbodance.com/audioDrives.pdf - C

If you have tons of loops installed, Logic can easily take 100 gigs of youd drive... Thats not even including any recordings you make!

Thats not even including any recordings you make! No: Logic install is about 40 Gigs. Anything else is not Logic anymore. If you install more loops, you can install them to another drive if you want. As for the recordings you make, it's highly recommended to make them on another drive.
