hyper editor sans sound! also misunderstanding two icons

i was messing with the hyper editor. one second i'm hearing sound the next i hear nothing. the only thing i was clicking was the link button because i'm not understanding what that link option does. i know it links two different windows, but everytime i click off the link button nothing happens. same with the pedestrian (walking guy). i click on both in both editors+arrange and environments+arrange and nothing.

You hear nothing.. when doing what?

 

The little running guy is called the "Catch mode", it makes the arrange area always show you the playhead position.

 

The link button allows you to choose from between 2 or 3 link modes (depending on the editor). Those modes dictate what the editor displays depending on what you're doing in other areas.
